EigenLayer Enhances Security for EigenDA Data Availability Service on Ethereum Mainnet

  • Additional security feature implemented by EigenLayer for EigenDA on Ethereum mainnet
  • Whitelist security measure using IP address or ECDSA authentication for enhanced protection
  • ECDSA authentication verifies user identity using elliptic curve cryptography
  • EigenDA offers free tier with high throughput, exceeding needs of busy rollups
  • Partners can request increased throughput beyond free tier for high-demand use cases
  • EigenLayer working on permissionless payments for blob throughput on EigenDA

Summary :
EigenLayer has implemented an additional security feature for its EigenDA data availability service on the Ethereum mainnet. The feature aims to prevent Sybil and distributed denial of service attacks by utilizing either an internet protocol address or Ethereum's elliptic curve digital signature algorithm (ECDSA) authentication. This cryptographic method verifies the identity of users, devices, or systems. EigenLayer's goal is to protect its service while ensuring access for all clients. EigenDA's free tier offers a high throughput of up to 768 kilobytes per 10-minute window, exceeding the needs of most Ethereum rollups. Partners can also request increased throughput beyond the free tier. EigenLayer is working on implementing permissionless payments for blob throughput, planned for release by the end of 2024. In May, EigenLayer completed the second phase of its EIGEN token airdrop, distributing 113 million tokens. The tokens will be temporarily locked until the end of Q3 2024, but users can still engage in staking and delegation activities. EigenLayer has already gathered over $12 billion in deposits since its launch in April 2024 on the Ethereum mainnet.
